7th Annual Gathering at Gilmore - Aug 27-29, 2010

On the long weekend of August 27-28-29, the Pierce-Arrow Museum at the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI will again be a focal point of this annual Pierce-Arrow Society meet. The Pierce-Arrow Foundation has built a fantastic ‘field of dreams’ with a large display area for the cars, memorabilia, and art related to the Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company. The building, the displays and the location next to the CCCA Museum on the Gilmore campus are great. Join fellow Pierce-Arrow Society members 'Gathering at Gilmore' to visit with Pierce enthusiasts and to celebrate, tour in and show our Pierce-Arrows to each other and to an interested public. Please put this on your calendar!

Previous 'Gathering at Gilmore' tours have explored many different parts of the region. In response to requests, in 2010 we'll make a return visit to Michigan's West Coast at Saugatuck and stay at the beautiful Bay Pointe Inn lakefront resort on Gun Lake. If you haven’t yet been to the Gilmore Car Museum and Pierce-Arrow Museum in Hickory Corners, MI, now is the time to visit what has been described as one of the ten best automotive museums in the country. The Gilmore is thirteen miles northeast of Kalamazoo, MI. Our host hotel this year is fifteen miles northwest between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids in Shelbyville. This area -- central to Chicago, Detroit and Indianapolis -- offers country scenery, rich history, quaint villages, good low traffic country roads, nice art and antique shops, attractive lake and river waterfronts, interesting history, superb private car collections, the occasional boat ride, and great restaurants.

The Friday ‘Covered Bridge’ tour of about 85 miles of scenic touring will be followed by a Welcome Party Dinner. The Saturday tour will be a memorable scenic drive of about 100 miles to the Lake Michigan villages of Saugatuck and Douglas. This has been an artist haven for more than a century and the shops and galleries are really special. You’ll enjoy the harbor and quaint cottages along the river and see Lake Michigan. We’ll return to the spectacular Bay Pointe Inn on Gun Lake for the Saturday Banquet. The PAS Sunday Show Day is on the green in front of the Pierce-Arrow Museum with an awards luncheon in the museum. The tours will begin and end at Bay Pointe Inn. You’ll enjoy the people, scenery, history, car collections, antiques, food and fabulous Pierce-Arrows. Ask anyone who's attended before!
