On the long weekend of August 22-23-24, the Pierce-Arrow Museum at the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI will again be the focal point of this annual Pierce-Arrow Society Meet. The Pierce-Arrow Foundation has built a fantastic ‘field of dreams’ with more than 6400 square feet of display area for the cars, memorabilia, and art related to the Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company. The building, the displays and the site location next to the CCCA Museum on the Gilmore campus could hardly be better. Join fellow Pierce-Arrow Society members and take advantage of this treasure by 'Gathering at Gilmore' to celebrate, socialize, tour in and show our Pierce-Arrows to each other and to an interested public. Please put this on your calendar now! Previous 'Gathering at Gilmore' tours have explored many different parts of the region, and that continues in 2008. This year we'll visit Lake Michigan's "Dutch" Coast at Holland and Grand Haven. If you haven’t yet been to the Gilmore/CCCA Car Museum and Pierce-Arrow Museum in Hickory Corners, MI, now is the time to visit what has been described as one of the 10 best automotive museums in the country. The museum is about 15 miles north of Kalamazoo, MI. Our host hotel this year is located another 15 miles north between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids on the shore of Gun Lake. This quiet area of lush green rolling hills and small lakes is central to Chicago, Detroit and Indianapolis. The area offers a blend of country scenery, rich history, quaint villages, good low traffic country roads, nice art and antique shops, attractive lake and river waterfronts, superb private car collections, the occasional boat ride, and great restaurants. In 2008 we will again offer both Friday and Saturday tours. The Friday tour of about 95 miles will feature private collections, luncheon on Lake Macatawa, historic Holland, fabulous shopping for the ladies and a Friday evening Welcome Party Dinner at a lovely home. The Saturday tour will be another of our guaranteed memorable scenic drives of about 110 miles. We'll visit the Reenders collections that include 2 Pierce-Arrows, have lunch by the lighthouse and sandy beach on Lake Michigan, and enjoy the riverfront harbor and quaint shops of Grand Haven. By popular demand, in 2008 we are returning to the beautiful Bay Pointe Inn waterfront resort on Gun Lake. Their excellent restaurant will be the site of the Saturday Banquet. The PAS Sunday Show Day is on the green in front of the Pierce-Arrow Museum with an awards luncheon in the museum. The Meet Registration forms will be mailed to Midwest PAS members in April. Pierce enthusiasts in other parts of the country should contact Dave Stevens to get the details and forms. Meanwhile we urge you to reserve rooms as quickly as possible. Rooms are limited. The tours will begin at Bay Pointe. We promise a memorable time with fantastic people, scenery, history, antiques, food and Pierce-Arrows. Ask anyone who's attended this fun friendly meet before!
